The 'Goat-rabbit'
In 1990, we rediscovered at a neighbour's a rabbit which we knew well
because in the 1960s it was widespread in our area known as the 'goat-rabbit.' We have never
seen it since then. When shown at exhibitions, not many farmers recognised it, but they all
called it by the same name.
Unknown by the S.C.A.F. ('the French Central Agricultural Society'), but
geneticlly traceable, all we had to do was present the evidence : we were lucky to find, on
a farm, an authentic group of rabbits which were greatly appreciated for their amazing colour
and which were worthy of the official breed name - and only 1 kilometre from our own 'Ferme
Conservatoire.'
